ELENA SPAFFORD

Elena Spafford is a Licensed Master Social Worker. She received her dual Masters of Social Work and Masters of Public Health from New Mexico State University in 2024, and her Bachelor’s degree in Community Art and Urban Studies from Wheaton College in 2018. Elena has experience working in the behavioral health field with families at shelters and elementary schools in Denver, Phoenix, and Albuquerque. She began her time at Small Steps as an intern before joining as a staff member. 

 Elena grew up in Albuquerque and is dedicated to working for the good of the city. As a social worker, she works from a systems perspective that recognizes our situations are connected to the larger systems we are part of. Elena seeks to meet families where they are and to collaboratively work toward their goals. She is passionate about supporting families with the tools they need to strengthen attachment relationships between children and their caregivers. Elena uses a variety of treatment modalities to fit the individual needs of the client and family.
