A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. — Lao Tzu
Small Steps’ vision is to strengthen the mental health and social resilience of children and families in New Mexico. Our therapists are trained in supporting families to cultivate more supportive relationships, heal from traumatic experiences, and craft healthier, more fulfilling lives.
Small Steps works with children prenatal to 18 years old and their primary caregivers using a comprehensive array of highly effective treatments. Our approaches focus on building upon your family’s existing strengths and capacities to help you grow, learn, and thrive socially, emotionally, and developmentally through your primary relationships and natural communities. In addition to our work with school-age children, adolescents, and older teens, Small Steps clinicians also specialize in providing Infant/Early Childhood Mental Health services to support and serve the youngest members of our society and their primary caregivers. Small Steps’ role is to help caregivers strengthen relationships with their children through Therapies designed to improve caregiver-child connection, cooperation, and understanding.
